Sometimes, you have to hold your head up high, right? I mean, this is what we're taught from a young age. Something embarrassing happens, just hold your head up and soldier on through it. People will forget about it. They'll eventually stop talking about how you ripped the butt of your jeans wide open in home room and all the boys saw your Rainbow Brite undies. Right?
Sometimes, in a head-held-high situation, other people might forget what happened to you, but you might not. Somethings are too personal, and you wonder how you'll ever get through it.
So, that's me. Right now. And this post is about the silver lining that, someday, will hopefully appear around these rain clouds dumping acid tears on my life.
To help that along a little, I'm featuring really fun, inspiring author success stories to give us all a boost, like the one from USA Today bestselling author, Maisey Yates, below!
Because, being an author isn't just a goal-achieved for me. It's a new career path that has to be successful. There's a lot riding on whether or not I can pull this story-telling thing off or not.
More than you realize and much more than I feel I can handle, sometimes.
Right now I'm having a hard time looking my children in the eye and I despise that feeling. Right now, uncertainty and a looming, massive life change is just hanging out, waiting to kick us over a cliff. It's coming. It's going to happen. We know it well. We're just waiting for the impact.
But with each new story idea that I have, and each new paragraph that I create, I have hope. I have hope that maybe in the near future, I'll have that one book, or that one series, that can help me look at my kids without guilt and allow my husband to not work 7 days a week from sun up to sun down between two jobs, just to try and get by.
Maybe one of these books will help us get a vehicle to replace one of the 11 and 14 year old cars that we drive (and break down at least once a month). Maybe it'll help my kids get to college, or hell, the braces they all need.
Maybe, just maybe, we'll be able to build that small little house we have half-enough building materials for, so we have a home. That's the ultimate goal. Until then, we'll get by like we've always done, though it will be a little different this time. A little harder. A little more embarrassing and a hell of a lot harder to hold our heads up from.
Until then, I'll keep writing, and reading inspiring posts like this one from USA Today Bestselling author, Maisey Yates.
Maisey's story, A Reflective and Thankful Post, really resonated with me, because her situation is SO much like our own. Scarily so. After reading her blog post, I was filled with so much joy for her and her family and was encouraged by her perseverance. It gave me hope.
Enjoy Maisey's story! Do you have a positive publishing story of your own to share? I'd love to hear all about it.
When the time comes, I'll share the rest of my story and hope it inspires someone, too!
You inspire me every day, Lisa! I can't wait until It Happens for you. Love you, girl!
ReplyDeleteMe, too, Lisa! What Lucy said. You will be the best inspirational story I know. Sucky you have to go through shit to make it truly inspirational.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to reading the rest of these... that one totally made me cry.
